Terms of Use

1. What the service does. ReFindU helps you find a person you have lost touch with. You describe who you are looking for; if the search turns out to be mutual, both sides receive a notification. Personal details are revealed only once both sides have explicitly approved.
2. Age. Use is permitted from the age of 16.
3. Who you may search for. You may search for a person whoknows that you exist — a relative, a friend, a colleague. It is not permitted to use the service to locate a person who does not know that you exist (for example a birth parent, or a child placed for adoption), and it may not be used for surveillance, harassment, or locating someone against their will.
4. Your responsibility for what you enter. If you enter information about another person, you are stating that you know them personally, and you are responsible for that information. Do not enter sensitive information about another person.
5. No guaranteed outcome. There may be no match, and the person you are looking for may not want to be in touch. That is entirely their right.
6. What we do not do today. We do not sell information, we do not show advertising, and we do not send messages to anyone who has not registered themselves. If any of this changes — we will update it here.
7. Closing your account and deleting your data. You can delete your account at any moment from your profile. The deletion is immediate and irreversible.
   Deleted: your name, your email, your date of birth and your gender; every search you created; every match that has not yet become a connection; and your ability to log in.
   Remains: if a connection was already made and you talked, that conversation stays with the other person, and you appear in it without a name. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
8. Changes. If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page.
9. Legal framework. The processing of personal data is governed by the data protection law that applies in your country.
10. Real identity, and no impersonation. Register under your own name and with your own email address. We verify the address at sign-up: a confirmation link is sent to it, and the account is activated only afterwards. You may not register under another person’s name, impersonate another person, or create an account for someone without their knowledge. You may not hold more than one account.
11. The service is provided as is. We do our best, but the service is provided “as is”. Matching is based on what users enter, so there may be incorrect matches, matches that are never found, or interruptions in availability. We do not undertake that the service will run continuously or without errors.
12. What happens after contact is made. ReFindU shows a match and enables a conversation — it is not a party to what happens afterwards. We do not verify users’ identities and we are not responsible for their actions, for the information they share, or for the outcome of your meeting. Take the same care you would take with any online acquaintance. If another user harms you — report it to us. Every message is read by a person.
13. Suspension and closure of accounts. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms — in particular impersonation, harassment, or searching for a person who does not know that you exist. We will try to give notice in advance, unless there is an immediate risk.
14. Prohibited uses. You may not: collect information from the site automatically (scraping, bots, scripts); create accounts in bulk; sell or transfer access to an account; use the service for a commercial purpose; or attempt to bypass security measures.
15. Indemnity. If a third party brings a claim against us because of your breach of these terms, you will bear the costs we incur.
16. The content you enter. The information you enter remains yours. You give us permission to use it solely in order to operate the service — to look for matches, to show you results, and to send you notifications. We will not use it for any other purpose and will not pass it to a third party.
17. If a clause is invalid. If any clause here is found to be invalid, the remaining clauses stay in force.
